An Ulsterman and a

in France
The story of Derek and Jackie Beattie
The Outside including the Garden.
The exterior was in quite good
condition,. the windows and shutters needed a lick of paint so they were removed stripped
and re-painted,.. the shutters took 3 weeks,. the shop ran out of the colour we had chosen
and we were half a shutter short. The windows are fine in summer but when winter
appeared the started to stick,. and became almost imposible to open. Next year we will fit
upvc replicas. The area had a very hot and dry Spring,Summer and Autumn. The grass was
scorched and needed quite a bit of attention. A hose ban didn't help. Also
we were on a septic tank but would be put on mains in late October.

Above ---- July 1st. 2005 we arrived to take up permanent residence
The house outside, little restoration was needed here. A few
roof tiles re-set and a little pointing and painting

Below ---- We were on mains in 4 hours,. Phillipe is a local farmer who organised it for
us, he's a very busy but very helpful gentleman, his youngest daughter is learning English
and likes to try it out on us. The Mayor also visited as did many locals.
