Muriel
Day and the Night Squad
Muriel Day ( nee Galway ), from
Scrabo Rd. Newtownards just past the Model School, got her start back
in the fifties at such places as the Guild Hall and Orange Hall when they used to have
musical concerts there.
She also worked behind the counter of Cecil Wilsons in Conway Square prior to her rise to
fame in the music business.
OFF TO CANADA !!
| The band was formed at the end of 1970 with
the express purpose of "touring CAN. & the U.S." for 3 months. We set off from Aldergrove on my birthday, February 1971. after only TWO months we found we were booked at various clubs right up to the end of the year !! and this was only Ontario, much less the rest of Canada or the U.S. !! (California would have to wait). the band comprised 3 from the Dave Glover Band, 2 from the Rumble Band, and one from the Cousins. it stayed intact in that format through `71 and most of `72. |
