My first bike in England which i bought from my
employer Bill Head, a real gentleman and close friend of Noel in Belfast so i got a good
deal. I fitted it out for frequent return trips to Newtownards and the roadraces hence the
extra lights and top box, fairing etc. It was usually a late friday night sailing from
Stranraer on the old A75 which was pitch black and twisty as hell but a superb bikers
road. |
 |
Another bike i bought from Bill, this is a Honda
750K6 Silver Jubilee Ltd. Edition. Again fully fitted for touring but this time with the
addition of a radio cassette and 25w amplifier playing through twin speakers buried in the
fairing,. it was loud. Spot the telescopic antenna in the top box lid. |

This was my little RD250, a very quick little bike,
Maurice set it up for me on one of his visits as he was more up on strokers than i
was,. I set off once to do a tour of England and got 50 miles,... I couln't stand
the up and down the gearbox on hills etc. It had to be a big four stroke |

My Yamaha TR1, a great bike but ooohhhh... those
s**t brakes,. they almost cost me dearly several times so eventually it had to go.
The back end was so light and the front brakes so poor the back end would skip from side
to side with no braking whatsoever.,. finally i was working at the shop one saturday
when a young lady walked in and asked who owned the TR1 (It was like new),. "I
do", i said, she then offered to buy it at a price, no thanks i said,. but she really
wanted it, i warned her about the brakes etc. but she said she wasn't a fast rider and
could cope with that,. she kept placing another £100 on the counter until i could no
longer hold out,. the boss organised insurance for her and off she went. I saw her
later and asked how the bike was "Shes fantastic" she said,.. "
Shes...?" I thought, aaaaarrrgghhh.... My wife Jax was also pleased to see the back
of it, it was the only bike that scared her... |
 |
My pride and joy, i restored this Honda CB750K7 to
totally original condition only to find out that Jax flatly refused to get on the back.
When i asked why she pointed out that it was black and the reg. no. was
"666" she was the superstitious type. This pic was taken
in our annual Classic Bike Show. |

Jackie with her GT185. It was too sharp for her, it
would take off in a cloud of smoke and she just could not get the hang of it so i got her
a Honda CMX250 instead. |
