This is more of a research project about a real character called

A real character, originally from the south of Ireland, a Policeman and said to be very smart. He had two houses side by side on Circular Road, one for him and the other for his wife.  Used to swim in the High Dam diving off the big rock, apparently he had very long black hair and looked like an otter in the water. Story goes that he felt that if his wife could wear trousers then he would be alright in skirts.

I saw him on many occasions and to me he was just a strange old tramp in a dress but i do remember that he was tall and broad shouldered and did'nt appear the type you would make fun of,.. also his long hair and great beard appeared when he got much older,.   Derek
