Need old pics to back up the new ones, can anyone help...?

Directly ahead is Balfour
Street, you are standing on James Street. The shop (now a house) on your right corner was
once Zander Bailies. The other corner. (Just out of site) was The West End Dairy owned by
Bertie Bailie. They were not related but Bertie also owned the West End Cafe in
Regent St.
(Info update from Paul Moonie)

Hard to believe but you are looking at the spot on the corner of Mark Street and Thomas Street where once stood Blaxnit Hosiery,. they produced some of the finest hosiery in the world and were inventors of the "Pathfinder" cushioned sole sock. They also supplied Umbro with most of their Sports Socks but had to be stamped "Made in England".

Top of Mark Street where once stood the Home and the Chip Shop of Jimmy McMeekan.

Looking east across Conway Square you can see the Progressive Shop, this was once one of the best shop/cafes in Newtownards,.Charlotte Hearns later to become the Orchard, could you imagine it today with organic local produce...!
